Strange Sounds
We asked ourselves could we hear sound? Could we see sound? And could we feel sound?
We could all hear the sound of symbols crashing together. We discussed it and decided that sound was made by Vibrations.
We hummed and touched our throats. We found out that we could feel sound.
To see sound, some grains of rice were put on the skin of a small drum that was made with a round tub and some cling film stretched over it. When a tuning fork was brought close to the drum, the rice started to dance!!!
We then made our own sounds. We took a straw and flattened the top of it.
We cut a triangle in the top of it. We blew as hard as we could into the straw. We made what sounded like party blowers! Some people went very red in the face!! J
The next thing we did to investigate sound was to speak to each other through a balloon.
Some people sounded louder. One student said her friend sounded like an old man!!
